Our Love Story

We met in June of 2019, and it didn’t take long to realize that there was something special between us. By the end of August, after Sam returned from a 3-week international work trip, we decided to make it official.

Cut to March of 2020, when the pandemic put our relationship on the fast track. With the lockdowns and shelter-in-place orders, it made the most sense for Rafael to move in with Sam to a small one-bedroom apartment. We realized that if our relationship could survive being in that small a space while Sam was working from home and Rafael couldn’t work due to the dental offices being closed, our relationship could probably survive anything. And, thankfully, we were able to move into a 2-bedroom apartment together by November of 2020.

On July 17, 2021, we went to Tiffany & Co to browse possible engagement and wedding bands, as well as to get sized. What was supposed to be an information-gathering trip turned into finding the perfect rings. While we both had ideas of how we might propose to the other later in the summer, it felt more right to make that decision together, and by the time we left the store, we were engaged. We celebrated the next day with drinks at the Oak Room at the Fairmont Copley Plaza.

While no one can say what the future holds, we are hoping to buy a house in the next year or two to start building even more memories together.
